Sophie Conus

Sophie is a musician and an artist, as well as a member of the Limbo collective, based at Zabriskie art space (Geneva, CH). Alongside her prolific work in ceramics, cast iron and forge, she wants to focus on sound design during her residency at L’Abri in order to fight the imposter syndrome well known among artists.

Sophie Conus is a sound and visual artist who graduated from the Work.Master program at HEAD - Genève (2023). Through installations composed of sculptures, found objects and soundscapes, she explores the tensions between public and private space, industrial materials and organic forms, collective and childhood memories. Her work evokes sensitive, sometimes strange worlds where the boundary between reality and fiction is blurred.

Under the alias Softness, she performs live concerts that combine field recordings and textures with layers of modulated vocals and flute, shaped through effect pedals. Her inspiration is mainly drawn from ambient, drone and trance music styles. She recently composed the soundtrack for the documentary film Les Chasseresses.

She is also a member of LIMBO, an artist collective based in Geneva. LIMBO is responsible for the curation of Zabriskie Point, an art space located in a former tram stop waiting room on the Plainpalais roundabout of Geneva.
